Alcan Composites has tested several UV protective clear coats for a variety of applications. Over time, UV protective clear coats tend to yellow resulting in a color change of the overall product. Another issue, specifically regarding Dibond Brushed Silver, is the ability of the clear coat to adhere to the polyester clear finish without peeling or flaking. End-users may obtain improved outdoor weatherability for a limited time, however, the overall performance depends entirely on the quality of the clear coat.
