In order to provide graphic designers and display fabricators with a succinct summary of Alcan’s sustainability goals and achievements, as well as specific contributions in these areas by the company’s graphic display business, Alcan Composites USA has created a sustainability statement available to all customers. The statement is available on-line HERE.

The sustainability statement describes Alcan as a leading global materials company delivering high-quality products, engineered solutions and services worldwide. The company is comprised of the Engineered Products (which includes the graphic display business), Bauxite and Alumina, Primary Metal, and Packaging business groups.

Alcan has been featured on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index consecutively since 2003 and has been recognized with numerous environmental awareness and sustainability awards, including: Fortune Magazine’s World’s Most Admired Metals Company (2007) and a AAA Rating by Innovest Strategic Value Advisors in the metals and mining sector for environmental, social and governance practices and performance (2007).

Alcan has instituted consistent business practices throughout the world through its corporate values, “Worldwide Code of Employee and Business Conduct” and the Alcan Integrated Management System (AIMS). AIMS consists of Value-Based Management, EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) First, Continuous Improvement and the “Alcan People Advantage.”

Alcan’s Sustainability Steering Team has identified the following “Alcan Eight” sustainability focus areas, including: energy, climate change, natural resource stewardship, community development, well-being, environmental releases, innovation and industry shifts, and product stewardship.

The “Alcan Sustainability Report 2006” provides a complete listing of the company’s achievements in these focus areas and is available on-line at www.alcan.com . Included in those achievements is a reduction in Alcan’s total (direct and indirect) greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 25 percent between 1990 and 2005 and a commitment to further reduce direct emissions intensity by 10 percent through the following five years (2006-2010).
